Continuing Studies
Reporting to Laura Kozak, I helped prepare the Concourse Gallery and install several exhibitions over the course of the summer. The exhibitions, curated by various instructors in the Continuing Studies department, each had their challenges, whether determining layout, or choosing hanging methods for more delicate works on paper. I had the opportunity to work with members of Gallery 221, artist and instructor Jean Krabbendam, and the Summer Institute for Teens final exhibition (including upwards of 70 high school students and a variety of mediums).
While the majority of this internship involved labour, it was an excellent opportunity to become acquainted with the staff of the Continuing Studies department at Emily Carr, liaising with curators with different levels of experience, use some problem solving skills and becoming familiar with the Summer Institute for Teens program which I will be involved with this coming summer (2012) as an instructor (Core Skills).
